What is counseling?

Counseling is a process that involves exploring both conscious and unconscious thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. This exploration can help you identify patterns in your life, gain new perspectives, and develop healthier coping mechanisms to address what you are experiencing. The goal of counseling is to improve your mental health and overall well-being.

What to expect

Dr. Ghoul approaches therapy as a collaborative process, ensuring patients feel understood and supported. Sessions begin with a free 15-minute video consultation, giving patients the chance to ask questions and see if the connection feels right. Full sessions are 50-60 minutes long. The first two sessions focus on building rapport, creating a space where patients feel comfortable opening up. During this time, Dr. Ghoul listens carefully and asks questions to gain a deeper understanding of the patient’s experiences and how those experiences have shaped them. Together, they’ll also discuss the patient’s goals for therapy. By the second or third session Dr. Ghoul shares a treatment plan that outlines the techniques to expect during sessions in order to support the patient’s goals. This plan is flexible and may evolve as needs shift over time. From session three onward, the focus shifts toward working actively on those goals, using structured or unstructured techniques based on the patient’s preferences. The process is always collaborative. Weekly sessions are recommended to start, but as progress is made sessions can taper to bi-weekly or monthly. These are recommendations – Dr. Ghoul can work with your schedule.
