Azoth Health was founded on a simple belief: healthcare should be driven by clinicians, not corporations.

Dr. Hawkins spent years in corporate medicine, where insurance companies dictated treatment options, appointments were rushed to 15 minutes, and there was no time for the behavioral counseling or osteopathic manual medicine that actually helps people heal. Patients waited in exam rooms, saw whoever was available, and left feeling like a number.

Dr. Ghoul brought a different perspective from research, teaching, and a deep understanding of how highly sensitive people and deep thinkers process the world. But she saw the same pattern emerging in mental health: venture capital firms buying up therapy practices, turning care into assembly-line sessions managed by business administrators instead of clinicians.

Together, they built Azoth Health to be different. A place where your doctor and therapist actually have time to listen. Where treatment decisions are based on what you need, not what insurance approves. Where you’re seen as a whole person – mind, body, and spirit.

What “Clinician-Led” Actually Means

We say we’re clinician-led, not admin-led. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

• You won’t wait 30 minutes in an exam room. Your time matters.
• Appointments aren’t rushed to 15 minutes. We take the time needed to understand what’s happening and create a real plan.
• Treatment isn’t limited by insurance company formulas. If something will help you, we can discuss it – whether that’s osteopathic manipulation, extended therapy sessions, or combining approaches.
• You work directly with Dr. Hawkins and Dr. Ghoul, not a rotating staff of providers who don’t know your history.
• Care is coordinated. When mental and physical health overlap (which they often do), you’re not shuttled between disconnected providers. We actually talk to each other.
